On her way home from visiting her uncle, the composer Utsunomiya, Yen meets a young aspiring singer named Kazumi. Having no letter of introduction, Kazumi takes advantage of Yen to get close to Utsunomiya. The way Kazumi sings reminds her of the late female singer, Ayako Tachibana, who was Kazumi's mother.
