Masako Tachibana is married to Toshio Akagi, an earnest and honest civil servant. However, one day after 22 years of marriage, Toshio took his own life at home... Toshio was in the middle of a case where government land was sold at an unfair price, and was ordered to falsify official documents to cover up the names of those involved. The story follows Masako as she confronts the government in an attempt to learn the truth about her husband's death.
