Daisuke Niwa is an ordinary, if slightly unlucky, middle school student. On his fourteenth birthday, he comes down with a "condition" that has plagued the men in his family for three hundred years. When he sees his crush, Risa, he transforms into his alter ego, the phantom thief Dark Mousy. Unfortunately, when Dark Mousy sees his crush, Risa's twin Riku, he transforms back into Daisuke. 中学2年生の丹羽大助は14歳の誕生日に初恋の原田梨紗に告白したが、即刻断られ、玉砕する。その夜、梨紗のことを強く思うと大助の体に異変が起きる。好きな異性への恋愛感情が高まると、恋愛遺伝子の副作用で伝説の大怪盗のダーク・マウジーに変身してしまう体質となったのだ。それもそのはず、丹羽家は江戸時代から続く怪盗稼業の名家だった。その日から大助の普通の中学生と数々の美術品を華麗に盗んでいく大怪盗の二重生活、そしてクラスメイトの日渡怜に追われる日々が始まった。
