Far in the future, humankind has evacuated the Earth in order to preserve it. Humans now reside in a gigantic structure that forms a ring around the Earth, thirty-five kilometers up in the sky. The society of the ring is highly stratified: the higher the floor, the greater the status. Mitsu, the lowly son of a window washer, has just graduated junior high. When his father disappears and is assumed dead, Mitsu must take on his father's occupation. As he struggles with the transition to working life, Mitsu's job treats him to an outsider's view into the various living-room dioramas of the Saturn Apartments. (Source: VIZ Media)

地球全体が自然保護区域となり、地上に降りることが許されなくなった時代。人間は遙か35,000メートル上空に浮かぶ巨大なリング状のマンションで暮らしていた。 地球の周囲をめぐる上層・中層・下層からなるその巨大なリングシステムで、主人公・ミツは生まれ育った。ミツは中学卒業と同時に、亡き父と同じ職種「コロニーの窓拭き」を始める。ベテラン窓拭き職人「仁さん」とコンビを組むこととなったミツは、さまざまな困難を乗り越え、仕事を通し、色々な人と出会い一歩ずつ成長していく。
