Although Tsumugu is skilled at embroidery, he would rather make fancy scenes rather than embroider boring kanji characters. ウールの世界三大産地・尾州（びしゅう）の中心地で、「繊維の街」と呼ばれる愛知県一宮市で父が営む刺繍屋を手伝う紡の元に、漢字とヤクザ映画が大好きな特攻服を着た留学生の少女ジーナが訪れ、紡に特攻服への文字の刺繍を依頼する。漢字を愛するジーナとの交流を経て、紡は文字に込められた本当の意味や奥深さに気付く。
