正月まであと1か月となった浪速南刑務所・雑居房204号室では、正月になると特別に出るおせち料理の話で盛り上がる。そこで、部屋の長老格である八戸伍三郎の提案により、今年もおせちの争奪戦が開催されることになった。その勝負とは、今までに一番旨かった食い物の話をして、その中で一番旨そうな話をした者を勝者とするというもので、勝者は部屋の各人のおせちから好きなものを1種類ずつ取れる。 クリスマス・イブの夜、勝負が始まった。
