普通の高校生活を送っていた鏑木アキラ。しかし彼には幼い頃に交わした盟約があった。それは夜の眷属の王・ヴァンパイアの女王に仕えるというものだった。アキラが17歳の誕生日を迎えるその日、アキラの前に現れたヴァンパイアの女王ミナ・ツェペッシュ。彼女はアキラに、日本に来た目的は、日本にヴァンパイア専用居住区=ヴァンパイアバンドを作ることだと告げる。ヴァンパイアの実在を知り激震する人間社会。そんな中、ミナ姫とアキラは誤解と齟齬を繰り返しながらも通じ合い、少しずつ心の距離を縮めていく。だがヴァンパイアの存在を忌避する人間社会、公主家の権益を欲する同族、ひいてはミナの婚約者であるヴァンパイア王家の三大公の巡らす陰謀に曝され、その絆を試されることになっていく。 三支族、そして謎の組織「テロメア」との戦いから七年…。日本はヴァンパイアバンドとの蜜月関係を維持しながらも国際的な孤立状態に陥っていた。 アメリカをはじめとするヨーロッパ諸国にボイコットされた東京オリンピックの開会式において新たに起きたテロ事件。来賓として訪れたミナ・ツェペッシュを人質にせんとしたテロリストだが、開会式その物がミナの仕掛けた罠だった。 そんな中、7年前崩落した富士風穴の奥底から「さぶろう」という謎の男の協力で行方不明だった牙なし300余名が帰還し、それに呼応するように東京埋め立て地の地下から発見された棺桶。ヴァンパイアの渇きを潤す「赤子魂（あかみたま）」と呼ぶ不思議な石が新たな謎を呼ぶ。 バンドからヴァンパイアたちが姿を消して半年後。アメリカでは自由教会に支配された影響でヴァンパイアというだけで抹殺の対象とされ、追いつめられた彼らは地下鉄道組織によって救援ポイントまで向かわなければならず、ミナ姫と縁があり、ヴァンパイアに偏見を持たないジェシカとスージーの母子も組織に協力していた。
