Overview

突然発生したウイルスにより大人たちが死に絶え、人間社会が崩壊してから4年。残された子供たちは吸血鬼たちが住む地下都市に囚われ、血液を提供する代わりに生かされるという家畜同然の生活を送っていた。その中の一人、百夜優一郎は「家族」である百夜ミカエラたちと共に地下からの脱出を図るが、ミカエラたちは脱出計画に気付いた吸血鬼たちの手にかかって死亡し、優一郎は唯一地上へ帰還する。 それから4年後、吸血鬼への強い憎しみを胸に秘めた優一郎はミカエラが吸血鬼として蘇ったことを知らないまま、帝鬼軍の門を叩く。 第1巻 日本帝鬼軍に入隊した優一郎は目の前に現れたヨハネの四騎士を一人で倒すが、命令違反による謹慎で第二渋谷高校に通うことになった。優一郎は、自身の監視役である軍の柊シノアから、上司の一瀬グレン中佐の命令“友達を一人でも作らない限り謹慎を解かない”ことを伝えられる。その時、初の友達となる不良三人組にいじめられていた早乙女与一と出会う。 しかし、そんな矢先に隣接していた研究所から脱走して学校に侵入した吸血鬼を倒すために優一郎は刀と銃を操り応戦し、危うく殺されかけるも、与一やグレンの協力により吸血鬼を倒す。この件がきっかけで優一郎と与一は月鬼ノ組への配属が決定した。 その一方で、地下の吸血鬼の第三首都サングィネムでは死亡したと思われていたミカエラが吸血鬼となって生きていた。 第2巻 晴れて月鬼ノ組研修教室へ移動になった与一と優一郎だったが、優一郎は初日から問題児である君月士方と喧嘩になる。一週間後の鬼呪装備適性試験に向けての訓練で、ペアを組むことになった優一郎と君月のもとに、民間病院に入院している君月の妹が危篤の状態だと連絡が入る。それでも訓練を優先しようする君月は優一郎により説得され、共に妹の入院先へと向かう。何とか危機を脱したものの、ウイルスにより民間病院ではもう手の施しようがない状態にあった。そんな妹の治療を受けさせるために君月は月鬼ノ組への入隊を志望していた。後日、優一郎、君月、与一はグレンが所有する黒鬼の攻撃に耐えて合格し、鬼呪装備の中の最高ランクである“黒鬼”シリーズに挑戦する。優一郎は黒鬼を条件付きで契約（使役）が成功し、黒鬼シリーズの阿朱羅丸を手に入れる。
