Overview
Sakura is a princess who lives alone with a few maids in a mansion deep in the mountains. She’s been engaged to the prince of the country since she was born. She doesn’t like that fact, as she wants to decide her fate on her own. However, one day, a messenger from the prince suddenly came to take her to the capital… Note: Includes six extra chapters. 「満月の夜だけは空を見てはいけないよ 自分が自分で在り続けたいのなら」 時は平安時代、和泉の国。両親と兄に先立たれた少女・桜は、生まれながらの許婚・王良親王の援助を受け、女房の淡海や友人の朝霧たちと人里離れた山荘でひっそりと暮らしていた。ある日、王良親王の使者を名乗る男・青葉が山荘を訪れる。親王は桜を都に呼び、妃に迎えたいというのだが、好きな人は自分で決めたいと主張する桜は、14歳になっても未だに嫁ぐ事を拒んでいた。 桜は結婚を嫌がり家出を決行するが、山中で道に迷い、弾みで巫女の白夜と交わした「満月を決して見ない」という約束を破ってしまう。その時現れたのは、人を喰らう不老不死の妖怪・妖古。 妖古は桜を「かぐや姫」と呼んで襲い掛かったが、桜は間一髪で救い出され、自らの生い立ちを明かされる。桜は月の国の秘剣・血桜を手に妖古を退治した、かぐや姫の血を引く月の姫だったのである。
