資産20兆円を超える岡山の大富豪「丹波一族」の血を引く暴れん坊少年・山岡太郎字（やまおか たろうじ）が、男として成長しながら日本の最高権力（独裁者）に立ち向かっていく壮大な一代記。序盤は中学生とのケンカであり、小学6年生の太郎字が母の故郷にやってくると、そこは日本刀を振り回す番長・五代が率いる不良中学生グループに支配されていた。母親をさらわれた太郎字の怒りが爆発し、父親に買ってもらった「戦車」で決戦の場に乗り込む。その後、地域の高校同士の覇権争いを経て、太郎字は「大ぼら同盟」を結成。終盤は日本を支配する独裁者・島村万次郎の野望を阻止するため、仲間たちと共に命がけのゲリラ戦を繰り広げる国家規模の政治・革命バトルへと発展する。最終回は万次郎を倒した所で日本全土を未曾有の大地震が襲い壊滅するというものであった。
