高校生、灰葉スミオは近未来に起こる出来事を予知する能力「夢日記」を持つ少年。能力で人助けをする事以外は平凡な生活を送っていたある日、母親が「エニグマ」という謎の言葉を残して姿を消してしまう。夢日記に記された通り、現場に不可解な黒いシミを残して……。混乱のあまり病院で保護された後、ふと目覚めると、スミオは同じ高校の6人の生徒と共に真夜中の体育館に連れて来られていた。そして「エニグマ」と名乗る謎の人物による説明を受け、運命のゲームe-testが始まった。 e-testが終わり、日常へ戻ったスミオ達。だが、全てはまだ終わっていなかった。悲劇を終わらせるため自らエニグマになったスミオ、エニグマの座を狙う敵「カニバル」、そして全てを終わらせるため、スミオは外骨島へと向かう。「カニバル」と共に……。
