Overview
During the Edo period, Dejima was a place created to isolate the Dutch in Nagasaki, Japan's only international trading port. Suzu, who lost her chef parents in a fire, works as a kabuki (a girl around 10 years old who serves high-ranking courtesans such as tayu) for Kotoo Tayu of the Maruyama brothel, and also works as an assistant to the kuzuneri (Japanese chefs at Dejima) for Fons Claassen, the chef at the Dutch trading post. A historical gourmet story. (Source: Houbunsha, translated)
