In this world, mermaids are treated like pet or livestock. On a detour from his business, Sigurd ends up at the docks where he meets an injured mermaid. This mermaid, who has been captured and brutalized by humans, is initially wary and distant but, over time, warms up to Sigurd. One day, this besotted mermaid makes quite the proposal...
